Since the seed round in summer 2018, EVUM Motors has made great strides forward. The number of employees is growing rapidly with relevant new hires, and suitable properties in and around Munich enable the company to prepare for series production.

The start-up becomes a company

Recently, key positions such as Head of Overall Vehicle Development and Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing have been filled that link internal and external resources.

“The search for personnel has developed enormously positively in recent months because we are increasingly perceived as an e-mobility manufacturer. Our average age is 34: We are well positioned for the future with experienced managers in key positions and young idea generators in all specialist areas,” says Michael Kinne, Commercial Director of EVUM Motors.

As an employer brand, the start-up also makes the leap to becoming a medium-sized company. With the move to the headquarters in Munich Schwabing-Freimann one year ago, EVUM Motors is growing rapidly – the company now has more than 40 employees in the areas of electrical engineering, electronics, vehicle development and design, testing and homologation and production as well as in the commercial areas such as sales, marketing, business development and customer service. The company, which emerged from a research project at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), continues to be actively supported by working students from the Chair of Automotive Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

New vehicle stand at IAA 2019 in Frankfurt

The production process is also progressing well: in Bayerbach near Ergoldsbach in Lower Bavaria, a production facility is now being prepared for series production. A workshop with showroom is currently being set up in Munich.
The next milestone for the International Motor Show (IAA) is expected to be reached in September 2019. A new, further developed vehicle stand will be on display in Frankfurt. This vehicle will already correspond as far as possible to the standard version.

“The team is now working together on the IAA appearance. The already interested public will get to know an electric vehicle of the N1 class with a payload of up to one ton and a design ready for series production,” says founder and managing director Sascha Koberstaedt (here on the right, with founding colleague and managing director Martin Šoltés).

After the IAA 2019, there will be a further round of investors for the start of series production in order to manufacture 1,000 vehicles in the first year from spring 2020 and to pursue further ambitious plans in production and internationalisation in the near future. The management is open to discussions with potential investors.
